✅ Before You Start
Make sure you have access to your OneDrive for Business account (part of Microsoft 365).
Install the latest versions of:
iCloud for Windows (if using a PC) or ensure iCloud Drive is enabled on your Mac.
OneDrive sync client (available at onedrive.com/download).
Ensure you have enough storage in OneDrive for Business to hold all the files from iCloud Drive.
Make sure you have a stable internet connection, as uploads can take time.
Option 1: Manual Copy (Mac or Windows)
This is the simplest approach for small to medium amounts of data.
On Mac
Open Finder.
In the sidebar, click iCloud Drive.
Open another Finder window and click OneDrive.
Drag and drop (or copy/paste) files and folders from iCloud Drive into OneDrive.
On Windows
Install iCloud for Windows and enable iCloud Drive.
iCloud Drive will appear in File Explorer.
Open File Explorer → iCloud Drive.
Open another window → OneDrive – [Your Company].
Copy/paste or drag files into OneDrive.
🛠 Option 2: Upload via Browser
Use this if you don’t want to install apps.
On Mac
Since iCloud Drive is already integrated into Finder, you can go directly to OneDrive online and upload.
Open Finder
In the sidebar, click iCloud Drive.
Open OneDrive in Browser
Go to [OneDrive for Business](https://portal.office.com → OneDrive).
Sign in with your work account.
Upload Files
In OneDrive, click Upload → Files/Folder.
Select the files or folders directly from iCloud Drive in Finder.
Wait until the upload is finished.
⚡ Best Practices
Migrate in chunks: Move data folder by folder instead of everything at once to avoid sync errors.
Check file limits:
OneDrive supports files up to 250 GB each.
Avoid unsupported characters in filenames (
" * : < > ? / \ |).
Verify sync: After migration, confirm files appear in the OneDrive web portal.
Stop using iCloud once migration is complete to avoid duplicate versions.
📝 Post-Migration Checklist
All required files are visible in OneDrive web and mobile app.
Shared folders are re-shared from OneDrive (sharing doesn’t transfer from iCloud).
Move files that are used by several people to a shared SharePoint surface.
